Classic Rock

It's been a while since 'For You And The Moon', Ms Bonham's first dip into the musical world - 17 years, to be precise. But obviously not one to give up the ghost, here she is with a reissue of her second release. And an infinitely superior record it is, too. Of course, with that Bonham blood coursing through her veins the album has balls. But it's not all bluster; this is a classy set of bluesy hard rock, with appearences from Mick Fleetwood, Dougie Boyle, Robbie McIntosh and kid brother Jason, among others. More feet-on-the-groung than many other solo females one could mention, '...Hyde' is more than worthy.

3/5 Star rating.

Classic American

Yep, she is related to Led Zeppelin's late drummer, John. But as siblings of stars go, little sister Deborah Bonham is a damn good act in her own right. The title refers to the farm where John lived and where she grew up, but Debs is very much her own woman, and she's blessed with a powerful Rock-Blues voice which she delivers to screamingly good effect on the opening 'Shit Happens' - the title of which should tell you all you need to know about her attitude as a writer. The best moments here are the slow and grinding Blues numbers, such as deeply soulful 'Go Now' on which Bonham sings from the gut and wrenches at the heart like a true Blues diva. Hers is the sort of voice that needs a roughy-toughy backing track to compliment her throat-tearing soars into the stratosphere and there's another Bonham - John's son Jason - providing a suitably sturdy bottom-end on drums. Debbie's partner Peter Bullick, meanwhile, adds some wallpaper-stripping electric guitar licks to a warm and involving album that should be checked out by all lovers of contemporary Blues and Rock. No, she's no trying to be Led Zep, but big brother would definitely be proud.
